Zoho Books 1099 export: check it before IRIS

Zoho Books generates Forms 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC and exports them as a CSV file for the IRIS Taxpayer Portal. A quick check before you upload catches the problems that get files rejected.

Getting the file out of Zoho Books

  1. Track the vendors. In each vendor's Other Details tab, tick the option to track payments for Form 1099 and enter the Tax ID.
  2. Generate Form 1099 under Taxes, Form 1099: choose the filing year and the form, map your expense accounts to the boxes, select the vendors and review the details.
  3. Export for Filing. On the 1099 Report page, choose Export for Filing, complete your organization's Tax ID, name and address, and export the CSV.

What to check before you upload

Drop the export into the IRIS CSV tool. It recognizes IRIS-format files, checks every row against the IRS rules, and splits the result into upload-ready files.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload the Zoho Books export straight to IRIS?
Zoho Books says its export is made for the IRS. Checking it first is still worth it: the template year, the $2,000 threshold, the payer phone and the 250-record limit cause most rejections.
Which forms does Zoho Books create?
Only Form 1099-NEC and Form 1099-MISC.
Does Zoho Books file the forms for me?
Zoho Books integrates with paid filing services. With the export and an IRIS TCC, you can file yourself for free in the IRIS Taxpayer Portal.
