Updates
Changes to the tool, and IRS changes that affect IRIS CSV filing, newest first.
November 1, 2026
- Embeddable checker and glossary. Firms can add the free checker to their own site, and a glossary explains IRIS terms.
- CSV checker for every IRIS form. Each template page now checks an uploaded file against the IRS rules for that form, applies safe fixes and splits it into 250-record, 100KB parts.
- All 37 IRIS CSV templates. Column-by-column references with required fields, examples, IRS formatting rules and blank header files, from 1042-S to W-2G. See IRIS CSV templates.
- Tax year 2026 boxes. The tool recognizes the renumbered 1099-NEC box 1a and the new cash tips, tipped occupation code and overtime boxes (1099-NEC 1b to 1d, 1099-MISC 13a, 13b and 14) when you add the IRS's 2026 template.
- 100KB file limit. The splitter now also keeps each file under 100KB, the size limit shown in the portal's error message in Publication 5717.
- QuickBooks two-report merge. Join the Vendor Contact List and the 1099 Contractor Summary by vendor name.
- Business-rule warnings. The tool warns for S1H001 (missing payer phone), S1H048 (several payers without a transmitter TCC) and S1H002 (CF/SF without enrollment).
- Masked TINs. Exports that hide tax IDs, such as XXX-XX-1234, are flagged.
- New guides. IRIS error codes, Excel to IRIS, the IRIS TCC application, IRIS vs FIRE, 2027 deadlines, the $2,000 threshold, corrections in IRIS, and Combined Federal/State Filing.
- Launch. IRIS CSV validator, fixer and splitter for 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC, with FIRE Publication 1220, QuickBooks and Excel input.
