QuickBooks 1099 export to IRS IRIS CSV
QuickBooks exports are built for people, not for the IRS template. Drop your export below and the tool matches the columns, adds the payer details, and writes IRIS-ready files.
Combine two reports (QuickBooks contact list + 1099 totals)
QuickBooks Online has no single report with names, tax IDs, addresses and 1099 totals. Export the Vendor Contact List (with Tax ID and address columns) and the 1099 Contractor Summary, drop one above and the other here. Rows are joined by vendor name.
Match the exact header of your IRS template (recommended)
IRIS checks the header row word for word, and the IRS can change it each tax year. In the portal, open Upload CSV with Form Data, download the blank template for your form and tax year, and drop it here. The tool then writes your files under that exact header. It remembers the header row, never your data.

Get the export out of QuickBooks
QuickBooks Online has no single report with each contractor's name, tax ID, address and 1099 total. You need two exports, and the tool joins them for you:
- Vendor Contact List. In Reports, open Vendor Contact List, choose Customize, and add the Tax ID, address and Track 1099 columns. Filter to 1099 vendors and export to Excel.
- 1099 Contractor Summary (or 1099 Transaction Detail) for the tax year. Export it to Excel.
- Drop one export in the tool above. Open Combine two reports and drop the other one there. Rows are matched by vendor name, and the tool lists any names that do not match.
On QuickBooks Desktop, the 1099 Summary report or the vendor list export with tax ID and address usually gives you everything in one file.
The tool skips title lines at the top of each export, finds the header row, and ignores the Total line at the bottom.
Masked tax IDs
Some QuickBooks exports show tax IDs masked, such as XXX-XX-1234. IRIS needs the full number. The tool marks masked TINs as errors with a box to type the full number from the contractor's W-9.
How QuickBooks columns map to IRIS
| Typical export column | IRIS CSV column |
|---|---|
| Vendor, Name, Display Name | Business name, or first and last name for individuals |
| Company Name | Recipient Business or Entity Name Line 1 |
| Tax ID, SSN/EIN | Recipient Taxpayer ID Number and TIN Type |
| Address, Street, City, State, ZIP | Recipient address columns |
| Total, Nonemployee Compensation, Box 1 | Box 1 - Nonemployee Compensation (1099-NEC) |
| Rents, Other Income, Attorney fees | 1099-MISC boxes 1, 3 and 10 |
| Vendor ID, Account No. | Form Account Number |
When the tax ID has no dashes, the tool decides between SSN and EIN from the name. A name with "LLC", "Inc" or a similar business word becomes a business with an EIN. Otherwise it becomes a person with an SSN. Each guess is listed, so compare it with the contractor's W-9.
Before you upload
- For tax year 2026, the 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC reporting threshold is $2,000 for most payments, up from $600. The tool flags rows below it. Royalties on 1099-MISC still use a $10 threshold.
- Payments made by credit card or through PayPal and similar apps are reported by the payment company on Form 1099-K. Leave them out of your 1099-NEC totals.
- Each contractor should appear once. The tool warns when the same TIN shows up on two rows.
