Treasury Tipped Occupation Codes (TTOC) list
The 2026 Forms 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC have a box for the recipient's tipped occupation. It takes a 3-digit Treasury Tipped Occupation Code from the IRS list below, which has 71 codes in 8 groups.
How to enter TTOC codes
- Where: box 1c of Form 1099-NEC and box 13b of Form 1099-MISC, next to the cash tips in box 1b or 13a.
- Up to two codes. Enter the code for each occupation in which the tips were received. If there were more than two, enter any two.
- 000 for a nonqualifying occupation. If any tips came from an occupation that is not on the list, one of the codes must be 000.
- A code, not an amount. Never put dollars in this box.
- Leave it blank when you paid no cash tips.
Only tips received in an occupation on this list count as qualified tips for the recipient's tip deduction. If code 000 is the only code, the recipient's tips are not qualified tips.
